Moving on from tube to oral feeding workshop

What?

3 day intensive workshop for families with children who are tube fed and ready for a transition to oral feeding.

How?

Lecture and hands-on approach. All techniques will be demonstrated on parents who will than practice new techniques on their children under the supervision of the therapists.

This workshop is led by specialized speech-language pathologists experienced in effective use of variety of techniques which will transform how your family relates to eating and nutrition and mealtimes.

Why?

We believe in every child’s natural, inner ability to eat. With a personalised, a child and family centred approach, we aim to bring this ability to surface during this three day long, fun andrelaxed journey of food transition.

  3. Regulation of muscle tension in the body
  4. The role of sensory integration in the feeding process
  5. Reduction of Hypersensitivity and motoric stimulation

  7. Techniques to support the correct breathing
  8. Organizing the correct reflex patterns (swallowing, sucking, biting, chewing)
  9. Correct body control with head in the middle line
  10. Jaw control – correct, symmetrical alignment of the lower and upper jaw,tongue control
  11. Feeding techniques (compensation, adaptation, restitution)
  12. Principles of feeding and extending diet
  13. Individualized meal plans and ways to increase your child’s calories intake

Prior to the workshop all children will be required to undergo Readiness to Transition Online Assessment by a Specialist Pediatrician MD AgataTrafalska and provide relevant medical records and documentation confirming readiness for transition onto solids.

In addition, organizers may request an assessment/interview via Skype with DrTrafalska.
